The European Commission gave a green light to MOL’s takeover of INA, according to the Croatian Government contract with MOL, signed on 30 January 2009.

This decision was a formality, because the questionable market concentration of the company after the takeover was primarily related to the Croatian market and not so much the EU market. This is why the Commission did not enter the second phase of the market share assessment of the ongoing investigation by the Croatian Competition Agency (AZTN). According to the information we received from the AZTN, they received all the necessary documentation from MOL on Tuesday and have requested additional information and data from their competitors. The AZTN is analyzing the collected data and assessing the market status of MOL/INA and the consequences this takeover will have on market competition and the end consumer in Croatia.
