On Tuesday, Pliva employees publicly criticized the data announced by the Management and the Union regarding the high severance pays they will be receiving.
According to the President of the Board, Mr. Matko Bolanča, the average severance pay for those Pliva workers with up to 25 years employment in Pliva will be 300.000 kuna gross and those that worked over 25 years will receive 400.000 kn, while the employees that have spent their entire careers at Pliva will receive up to 2 million kn gross. According to the workers’ press release, signed by the Veterinary technician Mr. Silvio Zednik, the agreed upon amounts are much lower. The Union representative Mrs. Jasenka Maloseja acknowledged the possibility of an error in the interpretation of the amounts that led to the wrong severance pays being announced by the Management at Monday’s press conference. Maloseja repeated that the Union is pleased with the agreement reached with Pliva. The management is understandably not able to list the amounts of individual pays, due to the confidentiality of personal data of the employees. The restructuring plan that will result in 2,000 Pliva employees was completed in cooperation with the Union. The layoffs encompasses all departments, including production departments such as the production of medicines, development and research sector, and production of active ingredients, with these layoffs occurring gradually within a time-frame of one year. Presently, there are no signs that any of Pliva’s larger production facilities would be closed.
