In the last three months, the number of active individual accounts has been cut in half, compared to the beginning of 2008.
According to data from the Central Depository Agency, from December 2008 until March 2009, 17,189 such accounts showed activity, which is another example of the difficulties that the Croatian capital market is experiencing. Comparing this data to Q1 of 2008, we notice a large drop in activity. To be more exact, in Q1 2008 there were 35,114 active individual accounts on the market. This is not a surprise, since the Croatian capital market changed its “appearance” drastically. For example, in that period of 2008, the crisis wasn’t near and the daily market traffic was above 100 million kn.
