In this Pilot, the Croatian Adriatic has been depicted very functionally and clearly – navigating a reader through 264 big harbours, marines and coves and providing comprehensive information on each point of entry, anchorage, moorings, harbour communications, lighthouses and navigation, gas stations, supply level and other interesting details, ensuring also photographs and maps for small harbours and anchorages located nearby.
Nautical Pilot to the Croatian Adriatic differs from other similar publications by the fact that complete shooting of the Adriatic Sea has been arranged, for the purpose of its preparation, in a way that each location in the Pilot has been accompanied by snapshots taken from the air. These photographs of high quality, showing in addition the point of entry or the cove, enable nautical experts to develop their own visual perception of a certain harbour, planning entry in advance. Cartographic data is up to date and the photographs are taken recently for the very purpose of this Pilot. Each location is represented by at least one photograph, in order to facilitate the visualization. There is at least one map for each location. This Pilot differs from other nautical publications by the fact that it gives a very detailed view of small harbours, marinas and coves, while usually only maps of larger areas can be found.
Mladen Šutej, the editor of this Nautical Pilot is a world's famous Croatian nautical expert and the founder of one of the first cruiser sailing schools in the Adriatic. He built a sailing boat Hrvatska čigra (Croatian Teetotum) together with a group of enthusiasts in only 10 months and sailed the world on it. He is the only Croat having sailed across the Atlantic alone. In his trough Mladen Šutej has sailed over 200.000 miles.
