Danish Jysk Coming to Croatia Before IKEA

The Danish furniture manufacturer Jysk is following the footsteps of the more famous IKEA brand with aggressive expansion.

They announced the opening of 140 stores in Croatia, Italy and Spain during 2009. The owner and CEO of the company Lars Larsen, commented that the company plans to invest 300 million Danish krunas or 40 million euro in opening these 140 stores. According to information from Denmark, Jysk plans to open 40 stores in Croatia with the first one being opened already in April. Also in April, one store will be opened in Italy and Spain, with plans for 300 and 250 stores respectively. With this ambitious plan in the next 10 years Jysk aims to double the amount of stores from the current 1500 stores in 33 countries.
